Sallie Mae’s borrower call center team handles inbound calls from more than 4.5 million borrowers.

We offer interactive account information services by phone and Web so that borrowers can easily access and manage their loans beyond our call center hours. We receive exceptionally positive feedback from schools and borrowers, and our correspondence processing staff is equally service-oriented.

The borrower call center serves your students at (888) 2-SALLIE (888-272-5543) during the in-school period and throughout repayment, easing the burden on your office and your staff.

Sallie Mae representatives are available during extended hours Monday–Saturday to handle borrower inquiries including, but not limited to:

  • Repayment options and deferments
  • Name changes
  • Application status
  • Interest rates
  • Payment amounts

We also offer Spanish-speaking representatives for our customers.

24-hour automated account information service

Our toll-free automated account information line operates 24 hours a day to better serve our borrowers. Your students can access their Sallie Mae loan account information any time, make loan payments online, change repayment plans, postpone payments, update personal profiles, send secure emails to Sallie Mae, and more.

Web service

Sallie Mae has been a major player online since the mid-90s. This site consistently provides financial aid offices, high school guidance counselors, and borrowers and their families information on planning and paying for school. Additionally, Sallie Mae’s online account management tool offers borrowers easy access to account information.
