One-time payment solutions

Interactive voice response (IVR)

Sallie Mae Interactive Voice Response (IVR) Service gives students, parents, and alumni the alternative of credit card or ACH payment by telephone.

The IVR is an automated agent, providing account information and prompting callers for the required payment information. Using our secure Web-based reporting tool, administrators have the ability to access real-time reports to look up transactions by student account, payment, or confirmation number.

Benefits

  • Toll-free number: We can set up multiple toll-free numbers per campus.
  • Availability: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Script customization: Sections of our telephone script can be customized for your institution.
  • Credit card payments: Your school will be assigned a merchant ID for credit card payments. (Instant verification of the credit card is available every time a student, parent, or alumnus makes a payment.)
  • ACH payments: Your institution will be assigned an origination ID for ACH payments.
  • Convenience fees: Your institution can charge a convenience fee for each IVR transaction.
  • Payment confirmation: Your school can provide Sallie Mae with a student import file for student ID validation and ACH payments (so email confirmations can be sent to students paying by phone).
  • Customized reporting: The e-Client Web-based reporting tool is included with the IVR.
  • Remittance file: Daily remittance file of all transactions. The file will provide your institution with details on each transaction initiated through the IVR.
  • Rapid deployment: Business Office Solutions will implement your system in as little as two weeks after receiving your institution's completed paperwork.

"The IVR service has been an absolute hit with our families. Now they can conveniently manage their financial commitments over the phone. The ease of processing, reconciling and maintaining makes the IVR a favorite student service tool of the Student Accounts Office."
